How to Keep Towels Soft & Smelling Great
There’s nothing better than wrapping yourself in a fresh, fluffy towel—except when that towel feels scratchy or smells less than fresh. At Clean Right Laundromat, we know a thing or two about keeping towels in top condition. Whether you do laundry at home or trust us with your wash-and-fold, these tips will help keep your towels soft, absorbent, and smelling amazing.
1. Wash in Warm (Not Hot) Water
Hot water can damage towel fibers over time, making them stiff. Warm water is perfect—it cleans effectively while protecting softness. For heavily soiled towels, a hot wash once in a while is fine, but make it the exception, not the rule.
2. Skip the Fabric Softener
It might sound strange, but fabric softeners can actually make towels less absorbent. Over time, they leave a coating that traps odors and makes towels feel stiff. Instead, add ½ cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle once a month to remove buildup and keep them soft.
3. Don’t Overload the Washer
When towels are crammed in, they can’t rinse or tumble properly. This traps detergent and moisture, leading to that dreaded “musty” smell. Give them space to move so every fiber gets clean.
4. Dry Completely
Damp towels breed bacteria, which causes odors. Dry towels completely before folding or storing them—either in the dryer on medium heat or in the sun for that fresh, natural scent.
5. Fluff in the Dryer
Even if you air dry, tossing towels in the dryer for 5–10 minutes on low heat will help them feel softer and fluffier.
6. Wash Towels Separately
Mixing towels with heavy fabrics like jeans can cause friction that wears down the fibers. Keep towel loads separate for longer-lasting softness.
At Clean Right Laundromat, our professional washers, Sanowash Ozone system, and careful drying process ensure your towels come back fresh, soft, and sanitized—ready for your next shower or spa day at home.
